Body Odor - An Overview
By: Andrena Stevenson
As the term suggests, body odor is any unpleasant smell emanating from your body. Such emanation of body odor can be from any part of your body like mouth, hands, feet, intestines, under the arms, and so on. Our body produces many chemical substances due to various chemical and biological reactions taking place within. Odors are an aftereffect of such reactions. Although mostly these are odors, there are very few body scents too.
Bad breath is halitosis in medical terms. I have often noticed a foul breath coming from my mouth if it is very dry. This is because saliva has many antibacterial properties. This cleanses the mouth naturally. However, low flow of saliva at night causes the morning bad breath. Sometimes, excess bacteria between teeth causes tooth decay and foul breath too.
Few substances like garlic, onion, alcohol, and few pharmaceutical drugs have very strong scents. Often after having any of these substances, I have experienced a lingering odor for several hours. These digested substances carry forward their odor in to the bloodstream and lungs. Therefore, lingering of the odor persists.
